Feather plucking is a serious issue that needs to be addressed by an Avian Vet.

There are many causes and reasons why a Bird starts to pluck. It could be diet, make sure you are feeding a balanced diet and avoiding many common table foods that can cause illness and nutritional imbalance for your Birds.

There are parasites and skin disorders that might be the cause as well as behavioral issues like boredom, and loneliness. Birds also can have allergies. These are issues the Vet will be able to identify.

Stress and anxiety are also major concerns, is your Bird getting enough sleep, are they in an excessively noisy environment? We have heard of a case where the Bird was being stressed by squirrels and cats they could see through a window, by moving the cage the issue was resolved. Is the environment comfortable temperature wise? Was there a change recently in how often your Bird interacts with you, someone they are attached to not present as often?

One item, the Noodle Neck, can help by preventing the Bird from reaching the feathers to pluck. This does not solve the underlying problem, but is a step in managing it. We must stress, an Avian Vet should be consulted to find the reason why plucking is occurring.
